To ensure transparency, we work with a clear cost structure. All expenses directly related to the assignment are charged to you, the client. This includes:
We maintain a professional standard of 8 hours of sailing or instruction per day. This guarantees the quality of the training and the skipper’s focus. Would you like to sail non-stop for several days (for example, during a delivery or long crossing)? That’s possible, but requires the deployment of at least two additional experienced skippers in addition to your head instructor.
We reserve our time exclusively for you. Should you need to cancel or end your appointment early (for any reason, including medical conditions or weather conditions), you will still be charged the full fee. If we mutually agree to reschedule the appointment, we will charge you for the additional costs and an administrative fee.
Safety is paramount. Your vessel must be seaworthy and equipped in accordance with the Offshore Special Regulations (OSR) for the relevant sailing area. We ask that you ensure a full technical inspection before departure. This includes clean and full tanks, reserves, working navigation lights, safety equipment, and rigging.
The skipper has the final decision regarding sailing. In the event of force majeure, such as a heavy storm or dense fog, sailing will not take place. Safety is paramount. In that case, we offer an alternative program, such as theoretical training on board or ashore. The days on which sailing is not possible due to weather conditions remain part of the paid contract.
Yes, for your safety and that of the crew, clear rules apply:
Participation in sea sailing is a physical activity and is at your own risk. All passengers must be able to swim adequately. If you or any of your guests have a medical condition or are taking medication that could affect safety, you are required to inform us in writing in advance.
For sailing courses and maneuvering, we strongly recommend bringing at least one deckhand, in addition to the instructor. The instructor must be able to fully focus on you and remain close to the helm and throttle during exercises.
In the event of a delivery where you, as the owner, are not present, Elmar Teeuwen will endeavor to arrange suitable crew. These are experienced crew members who sail on a voluntary basis or pay to build up nautical miles.
All contracts and agreements regarding yachting services are entered into exclusively with the Dutch entity Elmar Teeuwen | Marketing & Yachting. All yachting-related services are governed exclusively by Dutch law. No agreements regarding yachting services are entered into by Elmar Teeuwen in a personal capacity, nor through any Italian establishment. The services provided qualify exclusively as yacht marketing consultancy, nautical advice, Business Introducer or tour operator services. Elmar Teeuwen operates strictly on the basis of a unilateral assignment and acts in the sole interest of the instructing Client. Elmar Teeuwen does not act simultaneously for both buyer and seller. Consequently, Elmar Teeuwen neither requests nor accepts commissions or fees from the counterparty. Elmar Teeuwen only issues certificates when hired by an external RYA Training Centre and does not work himself as a professional skipper or sailing instructor on vessels flying the Italian flag. Irrespective of legal obligations, Yacht Purchase Assistance and Valuation services start only after passing due diligence and signing a contract. Our sailing holidays are official Package Holidays, including yacht, skipper, any applicable flights and transfers, travel insurances and 24/7 concierge service.
